Understanding Fitting Issues in Pyrolytic NEFF Ovens

By Graham Rogers

At OvenGleamers, our goal is always to provide the highest standard of oven cleaning, and we pride ourselves on treating each appliance with care and precision. Recently, we’ve encountered a rare but noteworthy issue with specific NEFF Pyrolytic ovens. When attempting to remove the fan cover for a thorough clean, we have occasionally found that the fittings, particularly the screw that attaches to a backing plate, are broken or compromised.

This has happened in our Bristol office where we have eight cleaners out cleaning. So we are cleaning approximately 120 ovens a week. It has now happened twice in the whole twenty years we have been operating. So it’s a rare ocurrence.

After looking at this closely and using my 20 years of experience in professional oven cleaning I believe that these fitting issues are due to the high temperatures Pyrolytic ovens reach during their self-cleaning cycles. Unlike conventional ovens, Pyrolytic ovens run at extremely high temperatures to incinerate any food residue within the cavity. Over time, these intense temperatures can impact the integrity of certain fittings, making them more prone to damage during any maintenance or cleaning process.

It’s essential to understand that this is a default of the oven, rather than an issue caused by our technicians. Our team follows strict protocols to ensure the safe handling of each oven, but unfortunately, the pre-existing condition of these fittings can sometimes lead to issues during routine disassembly. Please rest assured that we address any such challenges with care and, whenever possible, with solutions to maintain the quality of your appliance.

Thank you for trusting OvenGleamers with your oven care. Should you have any questions about Pyrolytic ovens or any other aspect of our service, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Two occurences:

The first time we had the problem I was cleaning the NEFF oven and it was four years ago in 2020. The oven had a strange burnt smell inside it. A smell of something subjected to intense heat. When I went to take the fan cover off two fixing screws just fell out. This included the backing plate leaving a hole. After the clean I managed to put the back fan panel back on again. And everything was fine.

The second time we had this problem was last week so November 2024. Again when the technician went to remove the back fan panel one of the screws just fell out. Then one of the others just broke off when turning the screw.
