Pancakes on the AGA Cooker – AGA Pancake Recipe

Pancakes

It’s Strove Tuesday so I’ve just made pancakes on the AGA for lunch.

For our AGA pancake recipe I used a mixture of:

2 eggs, 125 gms  Plain Flour, 300 ml of Milk.

Method

Put the flour in a bowl and then add the eggs. Whisk together adding the milk gradually making sure all the flour is mixed in. I then put the mixture into a jug and poured just enough for one pancake directly into my omelette pan (or you can also pour it directly onto the Simmering plate  if your prefer see below).

AGA Simmering Plate or Frying Pan to make your pancake?

The ones I did at lunch time were a bit thick – more American style – but the ones I did for the evening meal were just right.

In the past I have cooked them directly on top of the AGA Simmering Top Plate and they have come up a treat. But the only problem with this is that it creates a bit of mess on the top of the AGA. It runs down through the AGA top plate rings and gets everywhere on the AGA top. So the wife has got into a bit of a mood about it. But the good thing was I got some very thin pancakes!

This year I have used an AGA omelette pan. It was the cast iron one that came with my AGA starter kit. I use it nearly every day for omelettes. It does a great job for ensuring that the AGA pancake recipe is a success. And even though they were just a bit thicker we really enjoyed them, and no problem getting the AGA clean afterwards as there wasn’t any mess!

When I make pancakes I make the first lot with tinned tuna. And then the second lot are either plain with lemon juice and sugar or with ice-cream. Or both!
