High-Protein Overnight Porridge in the Aga

Serves: 1
Preparation: 5 minutes
Morning cooking: Approximately 3 minutes
Protein: Approximately 35g per serving

Ingredients

  • 30g porridge oats
  • 100ml water
  • Small pinch of salt
  • 300g FAGE Total 0%
  • A little milk or water to loosen the porridge, if needed
  • Cinnamon, berries or a small amount of honey, optional
  • 1 teaspoon psyllium husk, optional

Method

  1. Put the oats, water and salt into a small saucepan.
  2. Bring to the boil on the Aga Boiling Plate, stirring regularly.
  3. As soon as it boils, remove the pan from the hotplate, and then with a lid put it on top of the simmering lid.
  4. In the morning, move the pan onto the Simmering Plate. Stir well and add a splash of water or milk if it has become too thick. It will heat up very fast.
  5. Heat it thoroughly for two or three minutes, stirring regularly.
  6. Remove it from the heat and leave it for a minute so that it isn’t piping hot.
  7. Stir in approximately 100g of the FAGE, then spoon the porridge into a bowl and top it with the remaining 200g of FAGE.
  8. Add cinnamon, berries, honey or psyllium if wanted.

Approximate Protein

  • 30g porridge oats: 3.5–4g
  • 300g FAGE Total 0%: 30.9g
  • Total: approximately 35g protein

If using milk to loosen it, the total will be slightly higher.

The Even Easier Overnight Version

If you’d rather skip the morning cooking altogether, simply mix 30g oats, 300g FAGE and a splash of milk together and refrigerate overnight. This gives you roughly the same 35g of protein with no morning cooking and far less work.
