So Graham trained his first employee in six weeks. But this man had to leave before he started out on his own because of a knee injury which he had got in Taekwondo before he started with us. Graham chose one of the other people who they interviewed for the job and then trained him up to standard in two weeks. From then onwards Graham got his new employees up to the standard in five days training before they went out on their own. He then developed his own training course and trained a few independent business owners (we no longer do this) before getting the first OvenGleamers franchisee in October 2010. This person was the first to go through the OvenGleamers franchise business training. We now have the ultimate oven cleaning training package. Spread over two weeks our training includes detailed AGA cooker cleaning training using our on site AGA, range and standard ovens. In the first week we give you business training and make sure that you know what you need to know to run a successful small business. We also make sure you can take off doors and know the processes for cleaning before we hit the road in the second week. In the second week we take you through all aspects of oven cleaning and ensure that you are up to speed and know what you are doing before we let you loose on your clients, this means that you need to have been checked off on each one of the cleaning components. While you are oven cleaning training we make sure that your van is ready to go with all the products that you require to your van being fully fitted out with your specialist oven cleaning equipment and sign written in our branding and is ready to go. OvenGleamers Story: OvenGleamers was launched when the owners realised that there was a large market for AGA cleaning when they had their own AGA cooker serviced and discovered the number of AGA cookers the servicing company was servicing locally. AGA Cleaning plus oven cleaning was a unique and potentially lucrative business. OvenGleamers and OvenGleam are run by Graham Rogers, who is the Managing Director, and his wife Catherine Rogers. Graham Rogers is ex Royal Air Force non commissioned avionics engineer who after 13 years in the RAF was made redundant in 1996. After 7 years as a free lance computer consultant working for large corporate companies in UK and in The Netherlands he started OvenGleam in early 2004. He has two Open University degrees. Catherine Rogers is an ex Royal Air Force commissioned officer who spent 17 years in the RAF as a navigator on the C130 Hercules aircraft fleet. She also spent a two year tour at RAF Cranwell where she was a flight commander on Initial Officer Training. She left the RAF in January 2007 and her last tour was at RAF Lyneham in Wiltshire where she was an instructor on the Operational Conversion Unit training navigators new to the aircraft. She is a Maths graduate of Durham University. OvenGleamers was started by Graham as a one-van operation with the help of Catherine. Initially Graham tried different cleaning methods and eventually came up with a profitable system. With marketing being the key to educate people that such a service was available. Soon they got to a stage where they were booking ovens in at 5 weeks in advance and decided it was time to take on operatives to help them. They employed their first cleaning operative and after 6 months, three more. Currently they are operating a fleet of 4 oven cleaning vans with Graham out cleaning regularly. So with currently 10,000 customers they are still very much growing and their business depends on providing a consistent and reliable service. All staff have recently been CRB checked. Catherine runs the business and they have three more office staff, Sam, Nicola and Jayne, to help with quotes and booking in of oven cleaning appointments. OvenGleamers has tried several different methods to clean ovens but using the system they now use means that they provide a completely safe oven cleaning service to both their customers and employees. Graham Rogers founded OvenGleamers in Taunton in 2004, growing it from a one-man van to a five-van operation within three years. The first franchise launched in 2010, and today OvenGleamers is a growing national network, recognised as experts in cleaning Everhot, AGA, and large cookers. Graham also blogs, creates videos, and hosts a podcast. Outside of business, he enjoys weight training, has owned AGAs for nearly 30 years, and holds two Open University degrees.
