OvenGleamers Process
At OvenGleamers we genuinely do use Eco products in your home that are safe for you, your pets, your children, your oven, your oven, your kitchen surfaces and your kitchen floor. As we clean ovens COLD we never ask you to pre-heat your oven before we arrive.
Most of our competitors, even those who say they don't use Caustic in your home, do. They mostly use a product called SmokeClean which is Potassium Hydroxide, so a play on words.
Smokeclean isn't caustic in the sense that it isn't Sodium Hydroxide which is known as Caustic Soda, but it is caustic in that it burns skin and tissue because it is high in alkaline - it is seriously dangerous to the oven cleaner doing the cleaning (skin damage and inhalation damage), and anything it comes into contact with. And if residue is left in your oven the reside will quickly rust it. It is normally applied using a spray bottle onto the oven surface. If the oven cleaner has got the nozzle set incorrectly he will get a whole lot of chemical onto his/her lungs.
The give away is the oven cleaner will clean your oven when it is hot as this how the product works. They will also go over the top in the way they cover your kitchen floor/kitchen cabinets and tops as any drop of the chemical they use can cause extensive and expensive damage.
The OvenGleamers Cold Clean process, which we have used since we started in 2004, removes all grease, and burnt on food and carbon. We use a vegetable paste (The Pink Stuff Cleaning Paste or Astonish Oven Cleaning Paste) to break down the grease and a skilled scraping process to remove the carbon. The end result is a perfectly clean oven, without having to use a very strong alkaline product in your home. Any accidental drips on floors or cabinets will not damage them, with drips be able to be just wiped off, and we will remove them before we leave.
We also carry stock of replacement bulbs (replacement included in the quoted price) and extractor filters. For seals we ask that if your oven needs a replacement to order and get it delivered before we do the clean. The OvenGleamer can then fit it after doing the clean for you.
Here is the step-by-step process that our OvenGleamers undertake so that you know what to expect:
When you answer the door, you will know that you have the OvenGleamer in front of you. He will be in an OvenGleamer's uniform and his OvenGleamers van will parked in the street. You just need to let you in and show him where the kitchen is. You can social distance if you prefer.
When he gets to the oven he will check to ensure that the correct time has been allocated for your oven for the clean
The OvenGleamer will then do a functional check of your oven and check for any cosmetic damage.
Next the OvenGleamer will put down floor cloths and set up his work area in front of your cooker.
They will then strip down the oven and take all the bits he can outside. Side panels, fan cover, fan, racks, shelves, side racks. We also will take off the glass of your oven door if we can - most modern ovens have removal glass door panels. The OvenGleamer will put them into the OvenGleamers electrically heated dip tank which is fixed inside the back compartment of his van. By dipping the glass it means that we can clean modern ovens without scrubbing them and scratching them.
A full eco clean of the oven is then carried out using a vegetable paste and our unique OvenGleamers process. All parts are cleaned including the fan, the fan cover and the ceiling of the oven, above the grill. Any deposits on the grill will be burned off.
The parts taken out to the van are retrieved and the oven is re-assembled
A final inspection is then carried out on the oven. The cleaning equipment is returned to the van
The floor is swept and clean with any splashes of our organic cleaning product being removed. The sink will be cleaned if we have used it.
The OvenGleamer will then ask you to inspect the oven and sign off our checklist to ensure that all the parts of your oven, range cooker, AGA cooker, have been perfectly cleaned to your satisfaction and we have left no mess.
The checklist is to ensure you are happy that we have done a full and complete clean. We ask you to check the following have been cleaned: the whole of the oven door including the inside glass of the oven, including the self cleaning panels if any, the inside of the oven door, the oven light cover, the oven door seals, the oven ceiling and grill, the oven fan and fan cover and the grill pan. And outside the oven the kitchen floor and your kitchen sink.
